Bats are often misunderstood, associated with images of vampires and blood-sucking creatures, perceptions that have little to do with reality.
From this starting point, the project builds a narrative that brings teenagers closer to bats by drawing parallels with everyday situations: voracious appetites, nightlife, time spent suspended or outside the norm, and feelings of misunderstanding or not belonging. This was the foundation of the project developed for the Alviela Ciência Viva Science Centre, resulting in a traveling exhibition dedicated to bats and their role in ecosystems.
The exhibition introduces scientific knowledge in a clear and accessible way, shifting the perspective from suspicion to curiosity and empathy. Biology, behavior, social life, and the main threats to bats are presented directly, dismantling misconceptions and making visible what usually goes unseen.
Designed for school contexts, the exhibition combines interactive and informative modules, structured to be easily assembled in spaces not originally prepared for exhibitions.
The exhibition has already toured dozens of schools, municipalities, libraries, Environmental Interpretation Centres, and Science Centres, and continues its journey.
