As part of Lisbon European Green Capital 2020, we created an exhibition dedicated to Portugal’s protected natural areas, presented at the National Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon.
The exhibition proposes an immersive journey through the country’s natural landscapes, following a fluid path inspired by the element of water. Along the route, visitors move through different ecosystems, from mountains to the sea, passing through rivers, estuaries, islands, steppes, montados, and cities.
The project was developed in collaboration with more than 50 specialists, including biologists, botanists, and geologists. Through workshops and ideation sessions, we transformed scientific knowledge, field stories, and sensory experiences into an accessible and engaging narrative.
The features that make each environment unique are presented through immersive experiences that combine art and science, integrating taxidermy animals and plants from the Museum’s collection. A starting point to inspire visitors to go further and discover, in the field, what they experienced in the Museum.
