Hi!

We are TOYNO!

We design spaces and experiences for people.

We believe that spaces are living organisms that
promote sharing, collaboration and participation.

We create spaces from what matters.

Exponential Hope
Shenzhen Museum of Science and Technology
2020

In the hall of the new Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, we developed a participatory experience designed to position the space as an international reference in museum innovation and to reflect Shenzhen as a major hub of science and technology.

The project was developed within the international competitions launched by the city of Shenzhen for new cultural landmarks, including the museum designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Cultural research helped us understand the local context and adapt the experience to a predominantly Chinese audience. Um trabalho de pesquisa cultural permitiu compreender o contexto local e adaptar a experiência ao público maioritariamente chinês. Starting from knowledge and innovation, we created an experience centered on the individual, where each visitor is invited to project their vision of the future by creating a Personal Hope Avatar. Interactions transform personal choices into dynamic visual content, turning abstract thinking into a tangible experience. The installation materializes the concept of Exponential Hope through a minimalist structure inspired by the Great Bay Area delta, with mirrored surfaces that encourage participation and contemplation. Individual contributions build an ever-evolving visual mural, while the generated data allows the experience to extend beyond the museum.

With a flexible engineering solution, the two large mirrors can rotate on an axis and transform into a continuous display, prepared for different configurations and events in the hall.
