We were invited to transform the common areas of NOVA We were invited to transform the common areas of NOVA SBE so they would reflect NOVA’s culture and functionally respond to the needs of the entire community, from students and faculty to staff, visitors, and neighbors.
To achieve this, we began by listening and observing.
We interviewed different users and experienced the spaces in everyday life, analyzing behaviors, circulation paths, and usage patterns to understand what worked, what could be improved, and how to address diverse needs.
The project organizes the common areas into nine distinct zones designed for specific activities such as studying, working, resting, or socializing. These spaces enable temporary and flexible use, adapting to each person’s needs without compromising collective use.
Implementation is based on a modular system that improves accessibility and promotes sustainability. The system’s flexibility allows uses and configurations to evolve over time, reusing existing structures and relying on more conscious materials.
The project is currently in the prototyping and testing phase, developed by the NOVA Vision Spaces team in partnership with With Company.
